Are you going to shop or to donate? If you are going to shop: give yourself

enough time to really look. Most GWs have a " boutique " or designer section

where they keep the name brands. However, don't skip the other sections as

sometimes the sorters don't recognize a brand name. I found a black St.

skirt for three dollars once! Also, check the children's rack as well. I have

found Ralph shirts there that I can wear.

Also, Goodwill's move their merchandise fast. Usually it's on the floor for 3

weeks and then if it doesn't sell, it's gone. If you like something, get it

right then because the next time you are there it will probably be gone!

If you are taking stuff to donate: make sure it's not something you can sell

at consignment first. If something is in like-new condition and a recent

style - if it looks like something you could go to a department store and buy

- take it to a resale or consignment store. Take it to GW if it's more than 2

years old or has a slight imperfection, like a faded spot or something.

Let us know how it goes!

hugs,

Ann

I was so thrilled the first time I was able to walk into Goodwill and really

shop. Yeah they have some " larger " clothing but not that great, more

ooooooooooolder clothing. I want hip, sexy (well as sexy as goodwill &

salvation army gets of course) up to date clothing and I was so excited when

I walked out w/ a bag full for like 15$. Happy shopping. :)

My best advice for shopping at thrift stores is to go when you have a lot of

time. You have to spend time looking through the racks and trying stuff

on - and there are usually a LOT of racks to look through. Also, the ones

near me have certain color tags at 50% off on certain days of the week.

Make sure you know which stuff is on sale if the ones near you do that.

Vitalady got me to go to a thrift store out in Seattle and I've been hooked

ever since. While we're going down the sizes, it's an inexpensive way to

get clothes that fit without having too much guilt.

You're in Palm Beach?? I'm only 2 hours from you. Maybe we could meet for

lunch one day and go to some thrift shops. lol.

I didn't used to shop at GW, but a girlfriend drug me along a couple of

years ago, and I've found some really good stuff! I got a pair of Arizona

jeans (retail $60) for $9, and they still had all the tags on them! Be sure

and look at the other stuff too <BG> I found an antique brass desk lamp that

needed new wiring for $1.50, wiring cost me $2. A Dooney and Bourke purse in

mint condition, $2. I like $2 stuff. LOL
