Post operative plate removal?

Hi,

Does anyone have experience of the operation to remove the plates

put in during an osteotomy?

I had a lower jaw osteotonmy in March this year - since then I've

had a couple of infections on one side and my surgeon has

recommended I have the two plates on that side of my jaw removed.

I'm told its a much less significant operation but I'm aware my

surgeon tends to play things down.

I'm interested particulaly in recovery times, additive internal

scarring, swelling, how long on the soft food - and whether anyone

who has had this done found that the infections stopped.
