Hi - Brady, thanks for letting in on what we

know about Dr. Nase.

For the Moderators: With regard to Dr. Nase, I think

what the group really wants to know is - HOW IS HIS

ROSACEA? Personally, I feel for him and his terrible

misfortunes. However, what we don't know if he was

truly able to BEAT ROSACEA - and many are following

his book like a bible. I think the past postings

about people considering ETS surgery speak loudly.

Didn't a recent poster ask about Dr. Nase's rosacea?

Did that person get an answer? I think we have a

right to know, not about his personal tradegies, but

is his rosacea still at " pre-rosacea " as he describes

it in the book. Surely the moderators must

communicate with him--Could someone clue the group in?

Not saying anything just creates everyone to

speculate about his absence. It would be nice if the

moderators would find out and report to the group.

Thank you.

Hi,

As one of the moderators here, I didn't answer this question the last

time it was asked because I'm not in contact with Dr. Nase at all. I

think the last time he emailed me was June 2000.

I'm hoping he recovers well from his spine surgery. As you all heard

from P., he is recovering bit by bit. It doesn't sound like

he's ambulatory yet, though I could be wrong.

I hope that he hasn't relapsed with his rosacea, but under the

extremely stressful circumstances that he's gone under for the last

year, he may not be putting his rosacea first. I could be wrong

though.

Take care,

Matija

I could be wrong

though.

Take care,

Matija

Didn't a recent poster ask about Dr. Nase's rosacea?

> Did that person get an answer? I think we have a

To go even further, after repeated questions about his rosacea, and

repeated evasive non-answer answers from the moderators (lawyers

would call these non-responsive answers), it leads most to conclude

that the answer would not be plesant.

I don't know if you saw the what I wrote about this subject earlier,

but, to repeat, the last time I received a personal email from Dr.

Nase was June 2000. I honestly don't know how he is doing overall or

how his rosacea is faring. I think is the moderator in contact

with him.

If I had the bad run of luck that he has had the past few years, bad

car accident, divorce, etc., I think I'd take my time to recuperate

and make sure I'm ok for my child.

I know that doesn't answer your question. I'm sorry. I just don't

know.

I'm sorry. I just don't

know.

Take care,

I don't know and don't intend to ask. He at least deserves some space to

recover from a fantastically stressful last couple of years.

At the risk of repeating myself, and also at the risk of further being

accused of hiding something - he is recovering very slowly from a serious

operation - one that could have left him paralysed if not successful.

Indications are that it was positive, but his convalescence will be long

and slow.

Wow , I'm sorry you feel that way. When Dr.

Atkin's was hospitalized for a heart attack, didn't

everyone want to know if it was due to his diet? I

understand this is different, but Dr. Nase has been

gone for so very long, and he's greatly missed as you

know. However, since Dr. Nase wrote a book about HIS

rosacea, I assumed (perhaps very wrongly!), that he

was extremely comfortable discussing his condition.

AND, Yes , I do realize that there are other

things far more important than cea! But cea

is what we discuss here! So I don't think my inquiry

is out of line! However, I think the members of the

group would at the very least like to extend their

good wishes, kind thoughts and prayers for a full

recovery. Perhaps you could convey that message to

him at the very least? I know if I were sick that

long, I would wonder where all my friends and are.

Please let him know that the group continues to ask

about him.

However, I do feel for the person who is considering

ETS based on Dr. Nase's experience. To this person,

his/her rosacea condition IS obviously the most

important issue right now. To that person, I hope you

have discussed this procedure with others who have had

it, and how it affected their cea. From the

little I know, it's a serious undertaking, and should

not be considered unless all other options have been

exhaused.

One last note, especially with the absence of Dr.

Nase, I continue to be grateful for the others in the

group who devote their time and experience to help

others here. To the doctors, chemists, biologists,

and all the others who help with past experiences with

meds, sunscreens, makeup, and treatments: THANK YOU!

YOU'RE ALL SO INCREDIBLE! To the moderators, I

apologize if we don't agree on this, but thank you for

your work in keeping this group going 24/7! Take care

Michele, there's the rub -- whether considering ETS or anything else,

no one should base their clinical decision on anyone's personal

experience. It's wonderful to empathize with another who describes

the same physical and emotional pain one is experiencing, and to

learn about rosacea and gain tips and insight.

But whether Dr. Nase's skin is better, worse, or unchanged from last

year, it has no relation to anyone else's condition. Following

another person's personal treatment plan, even if they were 100%

successful or 100% failed, isn't predictive of how others will

respond to the same treatment. That's what controlled studies are

for -- to validate results for everyone.

Besides, as you and many others here know, ETS isn't even a treatment

for rosacea, just one of its symptoms. So how Dr. Nase's rosacea is

doing makes even less than no difference (if that's possible. <g>)

Thanks for the kind words, Michele.
