Guest guest
thank you so much, those of you who answered me yesterday! today i had my scope done... it showed a wide open lower esophageal sphincter (which we knew about) and a hiatal hernia about 1-2cm. thank god my staple line is intact, so it doesn't look like i'll be needing a revision. i don't think the h.hernia is big enough to worry about, but will be checking with my surgeon to see what she thinks. my gastroenterologist is suggesting a brand new procedure, which hasn't been approved yet in the US, but is going through the USDA approval process now... it is called Enteryx. they inject your LES with a liquid polymer, via endoscopy, while you are under IV sedation. the polymer turns into a spongy solution when injected into that lower esophageal sphincter muscle. apparently, the countries that are doing it are having fantastic results and he thinks i would be an excellent candidate for it. my doc is going to training in july, and i will be one of his first patients when it becomes USDA approved. here are a few links, in case anyone else suffers from reflux disease and thinks this might be an alternative for them... i intend to learn as much as i possibly can about this! ~ P., Indy ...~~~@ & ?@< http://www.fda.gov/ohrms/dockets/ac/03/briefing/3921b1_M3%20patient% 20booklet-FINAL2.doc http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/030120/nem019_1.html http://www.dgs- endoskopi.dk/endo_procedurer/ddw2001/reflux/enteryx_3455.htm
