If the thread you are talking about is dissolvable stitches, mine did

not dissolve until around 3 weeks or so. Then little peices started

to come loose as the parts that were insde of the incisions started

to dissolve. Before I knew it all of my stiches were gone.

I had my splint removed at 2 weeks, but from what I have read that

really varies from person to person. I have heard of people wearing a

splint for up to 7 or 8 weeks.

First of all don't YOU do anything...any cutting or removing should

be done by your OS.

But as to the thread...those should either disolve or simply fall out

when they are no longer needed. Some slight bleeding is usually

normal, but check in with the OS. He/she can trim the thread if it

appears too long and if it is being an irritant to the healing

process.

BUT NO CUTTING OR PULLING YOURSELF, you can cause more harm than

good...remember it is supposed to be there for weeks....

Give them a call and let us know...and relax, you will be fine and

get through this for sure! JO

I had my stitches in for 4 weeks and the orthodontist that works with

my OS took them out at that time. The splint came out the same day.

The stitches were irritating at times, but if you are concerned about

bleeding at the site continuously you need to talk to your OS. Good

luck. Lyn
