Guest guest
Well, best thing is to ask your surgeon to explain. That said, here's what it sounds like to me, a lay person totally: Mandible: lower jaw Sagittal Osteotomy: splitting the lower jaw from back to front, so it can slide and go forward, to give you more length Genoplasty: surgical treatment to move part of the chin either forward or backward, to give you better facial balance. Ask your surgeon to tell you, in detail, what he/she expects to do. That's the best way, by far, to get answers. And feel really generously blessed if your insurance company is gonna cover the cost of the genioplasty! That's truly unusual. Guest guest
Cammie, Thanks for the info. As I get my info I'm sure I'll be asking many more questions. I have been waiting since I was a kid to get my teeth and face taken care of. I am really self consious especially when it comes to getting my picture taken. I am nervous about the whole idea about having surgery and finding this group seems like it will be helpful as I go through this process. The genoplasty was mentioned on the sheet from the insurance and I had no idea what it was. Thanks for shedding light on what it is. Thank you very much, > > Hello all, > > > > This is my first time posting anything. I have had my braces since > March 2004 and met > > with the maxillofacial surgeon in April.
