Guest guest Posted February 19, 2003 Report Share Posted February 19, 2003 Hi Ann, The reason we can lose potassium with a high protein diet is that you excrete it with the excess water (potassium is an electrolyte)...but (for the other people reading this) that is NOT a reason to supplement (without testing or without dr approval). Potassium regulates your heart and you want to be sure to have it tested at your normal physicals, but not to supplement--other than in the diet--unless your dr says to do so.
