Unemployment and Disability

Anyone know if unemployment income would count negatively toward my

application for disability?

My current boss seems to think that at the end of the month I'd

qualify for unemployment (Probably for quite a while, since I've been

continuously employed for something like 16 years.)

However, I also understand that I have to be without income for 6

months to qualify for disability income.

Just wondering.

Unemployment is not considered wages, it is insurance. It has no

bearing on your disability claim. My wife applied last May while on

unemployment dating back to January. The Disability office asked her

why she waited so long to apply and she told them it was because she

was on unemployment and she was told that was not considered wages

from a job. Hope this helps.

Unemployment is not considered wages, it is insurance. It has no

bearing on your disability claim. My wife applied last May while on

unemployment dating back to January. The Disability office asked her

why she waited so long to apply and she told them it was because she

was on unemployment and she was told that was not considered wages
