Guest guest
-Hi Irene my names kat and im from the uk. i had my wisdom teeth removed 3 months prior to jaw surgery. however i was only 17 and they had not eyt come through. My surgeon said it was to do with the bone that surrounds the wisdom teeth is quite frail and removing them during jaw surgery makes it harder to predict the break of the jaw. As for my experience with both the wisdom teeth surgery and the jaw surgery, the wisdom teeth surgery was far worse. Both my ortho and surgeon had mentioned that alot of their patients had found it worse than the initial jaw surgery and it was. It was also my first surgery so i didnt really know what to expect. Im not sure about the scale of the swelling, but i was alot more bruised from ghaving the wisdom teeth out than the jaw surgery. What is your surgery in aid of? I had and underbite, so had upper, lower and R.P.E. im not sure whether wisdom teeth are needed to be removed when moving the lower back as they take bone out or not. I hope this helps you.... Guest guest
Hi Kat, Thanks for your reply. I'm having surgery to correct assymetry and an underbite (lower, possibly upper as well). I've talked to the OS, and seems like he and the ortho will evaluate my case in couple of months and see what needs to be done. Sounded like the OS's main concern was that the ortho won't be able to do what needs to be done, but the ortho said he'll be fine on his end. So, hopefully I can keep my wisdom teeth. They are fully erupted and healthy. Take care, Irene. > > Does anyone know if you need to have your wisdom teeth removed > > before the surgery (I'm getting a lower, possibly upper too)? > > My ortho mentioned needing to take out my wisdom teeth before > > surgery, but I am very much against having them removed.
