Guest guest
Hi, For anyone who has had to have a second surgery due to poor results the first time, what is the deal with cost coverage? i cannot imagine insurance covering it again, but if i have to (or want to ) have another surgery to correct being off center, i am not sure i can afford it. I can LIVE with the way it is, but i would not want my picture taken, EVER, and i would always wonder if people looking at me see how off center i am as i do ( and my chiro noticed within seconds after working on me). As you can tell, this is on my mind a lot. (p.s. I am putting pictures together on a cd and will be writing a letter to my OS to discuss. i am finding this very hard to discuss with him, as i really like him, but i have to get over this.) Guest guest
katie, I know exactly what you're going thru. I don't think insurance will cover it unless deemed medically necessary like the first time not just cosmetic. I got my doc to waive his fees but ironically he only charges about 3500 for a lefort 1 while the hospital and icu and hardware costs are about 15000. my insurance ran out after the first time and may not cover it now. still waiting but scheduled for the 16th. the good thing for you is they should be able to do it outpatient which is much cheaper. eric > Hi, > > For anyone who has had to have a second surgery due to poor results > the first time, what is the deal with cost coverage? i cannot > imagine insurance covering it again, but if i have to (or want to ) > have another surgery to correct being off center, i am not sure i > can afford it. Guest guest
, what is it exactly that you are having redone? I really don't know what the issue is that is making me off center. i don't know if it is the upper jaw not screwed in right and making me off center although all attached below it is " in line " , or what. All i know is right now the OS said that my teeth and chin are all centered, (midlines all centered) but we have not gone further to talk about why it all looks SHIFTED TO THE RIGHT. As mentioned before, if i get the guts and can technologically do it, i will post pictures so you guys can see what i am talking about. > > Hi, > > > > For anyone who has had to have a second surgery due to poor results > > the first time, what is the deal with cost coverage? i cannot > > imagine insurance covering it again, but if i have to (or want to ) > > have another surgery to correct being off center, i am not sure i > > can afford it. Guest guest
katie, have you had post xrays yet? they may give an indication what is wrong. I was so mad i got a second opinion and he took xrays of which i got a copy. looks pretty freaky with all the screws and plates. I don't know what went wrong with my surgery cuz the doc only looks and says umh huh, i can fix that! to the best of my guessing the maxilla wasn't cut on plane so that when it was advanced one side was lower than the other so I only touch in the back on one molar on one side. he should be able to just go in and trim it even. how is your bite? if it's ok maybe your chin slipped from sleeping on one side. i was always worried about that then i saw the size of the plate holding it and it is huge! my genio was the only thing that i don't have problems with. could you have more swelling on one side than the other? that might give the appearance of being off center. eric > > > Hi, > > > > > > For anyone who has had to have a second surgery due to poor > results > > > the first time, what is the deal with cost coverage? i cannot > > > imagine insurance covering it again, but if i have to (or want > to ) > > > have another surgery to correct being off center, i am not sure > i > > > can afford it. Guest guest
, definitely not a swelling issue, i was hoping and praying it was. I have very little swelling left if any at all, althought here are still some things i would like to still change, tissue wise, if that is to be the case. i DID see my post op xrays, but i really didn't know what ot look for so it all looked oK to me. the doctor never said anything about it looking improper. i almost feel like i want a full frontal skull xray. slipping genio? never heard of it, but i suppose it is likely. So i was in the produce section of the store today and who walks up but him, my OS and his lovely bride. i practically shopped the whole store with them. they were oogling and oggling at my baby. Anyway, i just burned a cd with pix and will write a letter so he can preview before our next visit. i am ASSUMING that the only thing that can be done is a redo of my chin at my expense. i don;t know, but i am sure he could prove that he did nothing wrong, as he keeps talking about lining up the lines he draws actually in surgery. i just need to know how and why this happened. Oh, my bite. i was almost closed on one side and quite a bit apart on the other (which i think has something to do with this whole problem, but elastics are pulling the teeth together, the wide open side is ALMOST there. i am getting my surgical wires out in three weeks. i wear 11 bands all the time except for eating. > > > > Hi, > > > > > > > > For anyone who has had to have a second surgery due to poor > > results > > > > the first time, what is the deal with cost coverage? i cannot > > > > imagine insurance covering it again, but if i have to (or want > > to ) > > > > have another surgery to correct being off center, i am not sure > > i > > > > can afford it.
