Guest guest
Jen, Hey there! Congrats on going to back to work and one week down! I probably could have gone to back to work this week also (especially if it meant more time off at Christmas for me), but since I'm already off, I'm just using the time to rest up so I'm fully energized next week. I'm doing pretty good. Any pain that I have is easily dealt with with over the counter pain meds (I've been using Tylenol), and my appetite is back. Now it's just a matter of finding things to eat! My swelling has somewhat stablized it seems. It is mostly around where the actual breaks in my jaw were made, I expect this to last for awhile (if it goes sooner then I will be pleasantly surprised). I don't see my OS again until Friday afternoon, so I'll let you know how it goes it then with the bands. Good luck at work! Guest guest
I hear ya on the Christmas thing. That's one of my big motivators getting me back to work. If I took all of the leave I scheduled off I would have none left to go home for Thanksgiving. So far I'm doing good. I got to work today with flowers and a $25 gift card for Jamba Juice on my desk. My coworkers rock. Before I could fit a spoon/fork into my mouth, I found that blending the insides of a breakfast burrito (or any burrito really) was really good! And, that sandwich I ate last night would have blended nicely into the tomato soup too. Good luck on Friday! Hopefully he'll lengthen your bands too! -Jen > > Hey all! > > > > Just thought I'd check in at the end of my first week with > status. > > > > I saw my OS again today and got the loose rubber bands, I have > about > > 1cm opening with the bands on, and a lot more (didn't measure) > without > > them -- he seemed really impressed with how far I could open -- I > > should have asked if that was normal. Guest guest
My bands have been pretty loose since the day after my surgery, so I don't know if I'll get looser ones. I already have about a half inch opening (I'm metrically challenged), so I have been able to get soft foods in there with a fork/spoon basically the entire time. I just mush them with my tongue. I just had pancakes for lunch - highly recommended, a pain to clean up after, but well worth it! Talk to you later! Guest guest
Yum, pancakes sound good. That's awesome that you're already in the loose bands! Sure makes it a lot easier to find things to eat! -Jen > > > > Hey all! > > > > > > > > Just thought I'd check in at the end of my first week with > > > status. > > > > > > > > I saw my OS again today and got the loose rubber bands, I have > > > about > > > > 1cm opening with the bands on, and a lot more (didn't measure) > > > without > > > > them -- he seemed really impressed with how far I could open -- > I > > > > should have asked if that was normal. Guest guest
I am worse than metrically challenged. I am innumerate. But blazed into my brain is my surgeon's comment when I asked him if he could see any difference from my 5 mm. lower advancement: " Cam- MIE! It's a quarter of an inch! " Meaning not enough to be notable (although he did caution me about it in advance). So if 5 mm = 1/4 inch, 20 mm + an inch, or did I miscalculate again, Miz , most estimable bean-counter of them all?
