Hi everyone!

I had my surgery on January 6th and have been home for a few days

now. I was extremely nervous about having it but got over my fears

and anxieties and was actually quite calm the day of surgery. The

only time I was weepy was when I said good-bye to my husband and was

being wheeled into the operating room and realized that this is it.

The OR nurse was an angel though, and pulled the gurney to the side

of the hallway just outside the operating room and held my hand and

reassured me that everything will be fine, that my doctor was going

to take good care of me and that I should think about how I will

feel once I've lost the weight. She was so comforting that I just

took a deep breath and said I was ready so she wheeled me in and I

slid over onto the operating table. I remember looking around

briefly and that was it.

Yes, it was painful when I woke up...mainly because of the incision.

(I had open RNY.)I was in the hospital for three days and the

nursing staff was exceptional. I'm able to walk around just fine now

and the incision only hurts when I'm getting in and out of bed or a

chair. I was on clear liquids while in the hospital and am now on

full liquids. Luckily, my story isn't anything out of the

extraordinary. I'm glad it's finally over with and I can focus on

recuperating and losing weight!

Sunny, glad you're home, and settling in. You're on your way to some pretty

wonderful feelings. It's the little things that I love to discover, like

being able to tie your shoes directly in front of you instead of over to the

side....being able to fit in the closet, instead of reaching in, or being

able to easily clip your toenails. These are very rewarding! And there

are still so many more surprises to come.
