Guest guest
...while they are sticking you for blood, have the test you for cytomegalovirus while they are at it. When my liver enzymes skyrocketed a couple of years ago...they determined it to be CMV hepatitis. Might as well get tested, you never know! I also have high EBV titers every once in awhile. It all seems to go with the chronic fatigue and the fibro...UGH! Regards~ Jacque Distal RNY, 5/30/00 Drs. Guest guest
Nope. I had a rather virulent case of CMV that attacked my liver. This is not unheard of. I'm negative on all the other heps. I was sicker than a dog, and my doc ran every test known to man/woman, to get to the bottom of my yellow skin, and over the top bilirubin, and liver enzymes. My tests showed I had a current infection. While it is rather rare for it to be symptomatic, when it is, it is bad! Nearly everyone has had this virus at one time or another in their lives unbeknownst to them, as it is usually and I say USUALLY asymptomatic. It is dangerous for aids victims and for anyone with autoimmune problems. I have CFS and FMS, and am prone to these type of autoimmune infections, and just because I have had it once, doesn't mean I cannot get it again. I was in my late 50's when this particular infection showed up, so I was not VERY old, just old. My son had the same type of infection about 3 years prior to mine, which was a complete coincidence, and since it is rather rare, it was highly unusual for it to happen to the both of us. This is just a little FYI for you, as there is much more to it than most people know. It just isn't real common. > FYI - > Do you mean Hepatitis C? Or, more commonly known as HCV? Guest guest
No kiddin??? Sorry to hear that!! Well, I hope you are on the mend and feeling better. Best wishes, Deanna Oh yeah, I'm totally better now. One good thing about it is, it is a virus...self limiting. I was sure sick while it was going on though. The doc has since loaded me up with all the hep vaccines....since, I think, she thinks my liver is my weak spot. I credit milk thistle for my liver's good recovery!
