I have eaten red meat and have no prob with it. Keep it is small

amiounts though and watch the fat content. I posted earlier a way

to cook ground beef to eliminate a good deal of the fat, maybe that

will help. I try to keep red meat to just once a week or so. Buy

cuts that have little or no fat and cook in fat free broith to keep

tender.

If you are at the soft food stage...... and no sooner......

You might try eating some liver and onions. This was smooth for me and

was quite satisfying. I grill the onions first in a skillet in a tad of

olive oil, salt and pepper. Then when they are starting to get clear and

look gooie, I take them out and set it aside. Cook the liver in the same

onion pan to get some flavor, add salt and pepper, garlic and whatever

else you want. It cooks fast, but don't over cook. When it's about

done, add back the onions and stir together.

My kids even love it and it's great dipped in a smidgen of ketchup.

help??

I was told not to eat red meat for up to a year afterwards because it's

one of the hardest things for your new pouch to digest...however, I ate

steak (have not had anything else yet) at 3 months and I do fine with

it.

Why can't you have red meat? I was allowed to eat red meat after 2 weeks

(as

long as it was comfortable for me)

I was never told no red meat. My doctor said if you can tolerate it. I

have since less than a month post op. But I do have to eat it slower and

chew it better than other foods.

But I would go by your doc's instructions. Is it no red meat ever or not

for a certain amount of time?

Candi

help??

If you want to try it...just chew it very very carefully until it is

like water. I would not start with ground beef either....try steak or

pot roast or something...cut off as much fat as you can. You can cook it

however you like (I always eat mine medium rare--steak that is). Take a

bite, then wait a few minutes to see how your tummy reacts....if after

about 3 minutes, you feel okay, try another bite....

If that doesn't work, try turkey....ground turkey or turkey steaks are

both wonderful and you can do just about the same things to them that

you can do with beef.
