Guest guest
Good morning! I'm getting ready to head over to see my OS right now. I'll fill you in on how that goes as soon as I get back. I'm definately a lot more swollen than I was, just took a bit longer for me to swell up I think. I'm pretty sore still as well, I'm talking too much I think. My tongue is the worst though. My back teeth aren't connecting, and I'm finding that I'm shoving my tongue between my teeth and kinda clamping down on it. I haven't quite figured out how to stop doing it, but I'll be glad when I do. I've had to bust out the wax again too, the inside of my cheeks are all torn up. I'm having a hard time eating anything that isn't Ensure or broth. Fruit smoothies irritate my tongue and cheeks, and I'd love to blend up some spaghetti-o's or something with a little more flavor, but I'm afriad of how that might feel too. I'm going to talk to my OS about all of this today, and hopefully he'll have some good advice for me. -Jen > Hey there! Just checking in at 3 days post-op to see how its > going. Guest guest
Well, he says I'm doing good. I saw the X-rays. It's interesting. The screws are all straight on the right side, but they're in a little triangle on the left. Go figure, the left side is where it hurts worse, and where the numbness is. He said there wasn't enough room to do the screws straight on the left side for some reason. I'm not sure I understand really, but as long as it heals I'm ok with whatever design the screws are in. He wants me to use peroxide on my stitches and tongue, and Plax to rinse my mouth out while I still can't brush. Not much I'm going to be able to do until he loosens the bands next Tuesday. After that, I'll be able to brush, and I'm still working on learning how to not bite my tongue. And, now I'm supposed to be using moist heat instead of cold too, and he wants me to massage my cheeks lightly. It kinda hurt when he did it, so I don't think I'll use quite as much pressure as he did. Hopefully the peroxide and plax will help heal up my mouth. I'm planning on spending the rest of the weekend completely immobile. All this riding around in a car has completely worn me out and I'd really like to just rest now. ~Jen > > Hey there! Guest guest
That's good. How's the rinsing going for you? I'm having a hard time telling if I'm doing any good with it. It is hard for me to keep the rinse in my mouth! I haven't left my house since I got home on Wednesday and don't plan on doing much this weekend either. Maybe grocery shopping. . . but I may have my husband do that for me, since it is all food he will be eating anyway! Do you have any opening at all right now? I was just wondering how the food was going for you. I haven't eaten much and am not really hungry, but I know that I am going to have to try something tonight, even if it's back to the pudding and ice cream! Kim > > > Hey there! Guest guest
Jen, if you go to site two and look in the files section, there's a file on manual lymph drainage therapy (my therapist gave them to me). It will give you some idea of the drainage patterns of the lymph system and some simple exercises to try. It's always, always done with a light touch, since the lymph networks themselves can be as fine as a human hair, that's why they are easily clogged post-op. > Well, he says I'm doing good. Guest guest
The rinsing is interesting. I'm getting better, but it's still mostly just dripping out all over my face. I have about a quarter inch opening, I'm taking all of my medications in pill form, have been since the hospital. Food is getting boring. My tongue hurts, so I'm avoiding things that irritate it. I'm pretty much stuck with broth or Ensure every 4 hours with my Vicodin. I'm not doing so hot if I go without the Vicodin yet, Ah well, that's what it's there for I guess. I don't get hungry ever right now, but I'm always thirsty. And, go figure, stepped on the scale and I gained 3lbs! And here I was worried that I'd lose too much weight. -Jen > > > > Hey there!
