Guest guest
Hi- I am having upper advancement and lower retracted on Dec 14th. Does anyone have any info about the diet post op? I meet with my surgeon tomorrow and will find out some, but my situation is that I live in Chile and am having the surgery here instead of the states (the medical in Santiago is second to none), and many of the American food products are not available here (Ensure, etc). My husband is in the states and can bring back these things. I just need some suggestions or a list maybe. Any info would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks- Molly

Guest guest
Molly, Ive been living on Carnation instant breakfast, ensure, protein shakes, chicken broth, beef broth, warm jello, pepsi/vanilla ice cream floats, and instant potatoes with butter thinned out with milk. I have tried to puree regular meals, but for some reason I cannot seem to get them thin enough to get through a straw. I had all but given up when my OS told me that he was advancing me to soft foods...scrambled eggs here I come!! Good luck!

Guest guest
Hi Molly, About a month ago a board member posted his amazing tips to help ensure (no pun intended!) a healthy recovery with little weight loss. I cut and pasted his tips into a document and uploaded a PDF to the " Files " section of the board here. It's called " post-op diet. " I plan to consult it often when I have my surgery next week. Guest guest
If there's a protein powdered supplement that you like, that would be something that's packable and would be useful. I don't know what things you have trouble getting where you are, and don't want to seem like the Ugly American, so I won't suggest things you can probably get in your own pharmacy. There is a list of things to have ready on Fiddlesticks' Geocities site.
