Guest guest
I have no idea but you should try to soak in the tub, get that shoulder submerged and see if you can get the muscle to relax. Guest guest
eight days on he couch would give anyone a sore back! some people have a problem using multiple pillows to attain elevation. it strains the neck muscles. there are pillows you can buy that allow you to elevate without straining the neck. If you are worried about rolling on your side try rolling up two towels and place them on either side of your face when you sleep and that will keep you from rolling over. at 8 days your swelling should be down enough that you don't have to elevate. instead of doubling up on the pillows I just crammed mine further in the pillow case which made it plenty thick for sleep. My chiro worked on my neck muscles which made it feel much better. a short visit to a massage therapist would also be money well spent. I hope this helps. eric > Hi everyone, > I am 8 days post op and I have a problem with upper back pain when I > sleep. Guest guest
I agree with . I bought a " bed pillow " - one with arms (cost CAD 30.00), and I used some small cushions to pad out the lower back area. I was also afraid of rolling onto my side (did it once, woke up pretty sore the next morning), so I had a king-size pillow on one side and another on the other. I think I slept inclined for about 2 weeks, after that I started sleeping on my side. It does get tedious, you really want to roll over, etc., I know! Maybe you could get an appointment for a situp massage, something that wouldn't put pressure on your face. I didn't go to the chiro or massage therapist for 6-8 weeks post-op myself. Definitely, couches are NOT made for sleeping on. I've retreated to ours occasionally when my husband snores me out, and I've never ever had a good night's sleep, usually my neck is way sore afterwards. > > Hi everyone, > > I am 8 days post op and I have a problem with upper back pain when I > > sleep. Guest guest
Oh yeah Mindy... Pinched something in my neck and been dealing with serious ouchies from moment to moment... tell your OS and then definitely take heed to susanf stretches, she knows her shit. She gave me a few yesterday I think it was and helpful? INDEED! I still have pain, but the stretches do help quite a lot. hang in there....and ask if you can go into bed propped up in pillows...they may say yes and I think that it really aided relieving my pains. Let me know! JO...ps-2wks 3 days post op and getting there. just got skinny bands that allow me to get pills in but no chewing...that's ok. the pressure is not so intense and that's nice. Still blending everything, but thats ok too...my face is alomst done w/swelling and I didn't have any brusing...the nerves seem to be coming nk well too...pinchy and tickly more and more everyday and I can make a yuck are you crazy-scrunchy nose face too now! Guest guest
It's not that it's in continual pain, it just gets sore when I lie down, obviously I'm not seeping right. I did sleep in a bed last light with a bunch of pillows. I did a bad thing and i laid on my right side, and not an accident, on purpose. I had trouble sleeping Sun. night I think because it was the first night with no pain meds. I haven't been on these sites a lot cuz my energy level is not so great. Yesterday it was good, had to go see my surgeon. I have been hoping to post my story but I just don't have the energy yet. I lost a lot of blood and had to be tranferred from the surg. center to the hospital for a second night. Alright, thanks for the replies, gotta go prepare dinner! Guest guest
I do not think that sleeping on your side is a bad thing as long a your head is elevated above your heart. I slept on a recliner the first few weeks and by natural inclination afte rthe first few days I would turn on my side, but my head was levated so I was fine, I just had to be careful to not put alot of pressure or weight on my jaw. I slept on my side on the recliner with a pillow under the upper part of my face.
