Guest guest
Stop, isn't that the big red sign at the end of the block? Seriously though, I sometimes wonder about these surgeons. I wish they would " stop " and think about what they are saying. Lori Owen - Denton, Texas CHF 4/14/01 479 lbs. SRVG 7/16/01 401 lbs. Guest guest
About a year after my original surgery, the same thing happened with me. I could eat huge amounts of food. I didn't do anything about it until I had reflux and heartburn and constant nausea. I had lost 100 lbs, but I needed to lose about 70 more (I had also regained 30 lbs.) I probably would have just let it go at that. The only reason I had the revision was because of the pain and nausea (in 2001). Boy, am I glad I did. I lost the rest of the weight and I am thinner than I could have ever imagined. Life is so much better at 130. BarbaraJean Re: this was posted on the AMOS board.. How can she do a 5 year study without bloodwork to confirm her findings? This is a faulty study. I rarely say this, but what a Jerk she is if she thinks her findings will be valid. My 2 cents. Now if I were you I would find a decent PCP interested in your well being. Fay Bayuk 300/175 10/23/01 Dr

There have been other comments that have bothered me EVEN more like the time I asked her why we don't have to have any post-op blood work done.......she replied that she doesn't do it unless a problem arises.......But then in some aspects she blows me away. She is doing a 5 year study of her WLS patients.......starting BEFORE surgery and then following them for 5 years....it is very extensive. I have about 15 pages with several hundred questions to fill out, then phone consults. I am getting paid, but I would have done it even if I wasn't. Oh well, my PCP sucks with the whole thing.....not sure what to do other than what I am already doing.......keep up with it myself........ P. Guest guest
OOps.....guess I should have specified. It isn't a " medical " research..it is physiological, behavioral. It is broken up into several sections: Physical Function Self-esteem Sexual Life Public Distress Work Covers EVERYTHING that we could possible think about our lives post-op. I guess she figures that she gets all the other info in our office visits.......except blood work of course Forgot to mention that I went to a support group the other night for a new PS in the area.......my doc is in the same " network " as this new guy......the head person of the entire " Weight Management Network " for all the Pittsburgh hospitals was there......she mentioned how imperative it was that we get our blood done every six months....this woman is my doc's boss.......came real close to " squealing " on my doc but figured I would give her one last chance when I see her at the end of this month!!!!
