Guest guest
I'm 4.5 months postop from lower jaw advancement.. i'm slightly asymmetrical now.. i was not before the surgery. I had not idea that this could be possible.. the surgeon says that i should give it 1 year before making final analysis, but he also said that most of the residual swelling is gone.. i stupidly thought the asymmetry was from uneven swelling on my face, that that does not appear to be the case... bottom line: your face symmetry can be affected by the surgery... i wouldn't recommend the surgery unless you have a pre-existing severe bite.... > Hi Everyone, > > I'm nearly 12 weeks post surgery, and I'm having some > concerns. Guest guest
I am asymmetrical now, before surgery, where my lower jaw is shifted to the right. My ortho has told me that the lower jaw will be shifted to the left during surgery to correct this, as well shifted back to correct my underbite. Has anybody had surgery to correct asymmetry of the jaws, and after the surgery are the lips symmetrical? Worried, > > Hi Everyone, > > > > I'm nearly 12 weeks post surgery, and I'm having some > > concerns. Guest guest
> Hi Everyone, im only about 3 weeks post op. i had upper jaw surgery to correct a gummy smile and to be able to close my mouth. everything has went really well until today. ive read about people who've gotten depressed post surgery but i didnt really think it would happen to me. when i see myself in the mirror i se a chipmunk with a huge nose. the swelling is almost gone but my nose is bigger than before the surgery, i dont know if it will get smaller when the swelling is totally gone. i dont want my nose to look different and i certanly do not want to get a nose job. my face is also a lot more unsymetrical than it was before. my teeth on my left side dont meet. i got rubber bands to use on my braces to make the teeth move towards eachother but it feels like they're making them look even worse. i sometimes feel like i looked better before the surgery even if i didnt in other peoples eyes. it feels like they pushed my upper jaw too far up. when i smile i look like a troll with no teeth. my dentist said that everything looks great and normal, but i still feel like something is wrong. i have to exaggerate my smile if i want my whole front teeth to show. and my bigger nose is getting on my nerves. will this get better when the swelling is gone??
