You can lose as much as 2/3 of hair, as it is a matter of cycles . . . our hair

goes through 3 different cycles, actively growing, dormant, and shedding. At

the time of surgery, hair follicles clamp down and all go dormant. When body

recovers enough to start hair again, you start shedding both the (formerly)

dormant and shedding phases.

Soon, tho, your head will start to feel rough, and those are some new hairs. A

month or three later, and you'll get rough again, and soon, you have 2 crops of

baby hairs!

Plan on cutting your hair short, if you can. The short hairs are less obnoxious

when they fall out, and soon, 2/3 of your hair will *be* short . . . but mine

is coming back with a vengeance. Healthier than ever, as a result of protein,

and a supplement call Hair, Skin & Nails (vitalady.com). These don't stop you

losing, but help it come back stronger, better.

Subject: Question about losing hair- How much do you lose???

I'm following the posts about hari loss with great interest. When

post-ops say they are losing hair, do you mean you lose enough to

need a wig, or is it thining hair. It is what it is, but I just

want to be prepared.

Thanks,

Jayne
