Guest guest
Hi Mindy At three weeks I still had numbness on both sides of my face, though the area on one side was much more extensive. My nose was still stiff and I still had swelling that was noticeable to me. Now Im over three months. My face feels like mine again. Tthe first thing I was able to feel on the roof of my mouth was cold. That happened at two months, maybe a little earlier. At almost exactly three months, feeling started to creep down to my gums, the ones on the top. But that is not regular yet and I cannot feel all of them up there. Also, when there is pressure on my teeth I can feel that in my gums. But much of the roof of my mouth and the gums on the inside are still out of it. I am just getting to be able to feel the sensation that is 'hot' in the roof of my mouth and gums. Just barely. I still have to be very careful about eating hot foods and about usign my toothbrush. I could burn myself and not even know it. I can really feel 'cold' and sometimes I feel that TOO much. My gums tend to improve noticeably for a few days, then the progress stalls for a week, then it improves for a few more days.....etc. At this point I would definitely want local anesthesia if I were having any dental work done. I would still call the numbness in my mouth significant but I think I will get more feeling back than I have now. > Hi everyone! > > I am almost 3 weeks post-op and still have significant numbness on > the left side of my face and upper lip. Guest guest
Hi Mindy. In my class before the surgery they said it was common to take 2-3 months and not to panic even then as some patients have had it go away in year 1 or 2. I had my surgery last Tuesday and my chin is numb. With my puffiness it makes shaving a real adventure! > Hi everyone! > > I am almost 3 weeks post-op and still have significant numbness on > the left side of my face and upper lip. Guest guest
Mindy, I am a little over 6 week and I still have numbness in my chin a little in the upper lip and the roof of my mouth. when this goes away really varies a lot form person to person but at three weeks you should not worry about it. I'm still slightly swollen as well. As long as your surgeon is not worries there is no need for you to worry. marsha > > Hi everyone! > > > > I am almost 3 weeks post-op and still have significant numbness on > > the left side of my face and upper lip.
