Guest guest
You have to remember this was a major surgery where the outcome was a change to your look. It is common to be depressed after surgery especially one that affects you looks. I am almost 3weeks post-op and know a little how you feel. I am still a little swollen. So, I still don't know what my finally look will be. There is a little opening when my mouth is relaxed that I am hoping will close when all the swelling is gone. It has been a little weird for me everyday I look in the mirror. I wonder who that person is, but I think I am liking the outcome. It just takes time to get used to it. > > Is there anyone out there who has had corrective surgery for an > asymetrical jaw? I am 7 weeks post op, but it feels like it has > been longer. Guest guest
Tell this to your surgeon, please. The depression may come in part from a reaction to the steroids. It's not unusual at all. And if you feel that you're seeing someone else's face in the mirror, that's also disconcerting and takes some adjustment. I would suspect that things will get better as you can get closer to your usual diet. But still, do tell your doc, and any other who may be treating you for depression or such. Or your family doc, if you're more comfortable with that person. There are things they and you can do to help, and you needn't suffer depression in silence.
