Guest guest
Hello, My ortho told me that after surgery my face will be numb for about six months. I was wondering how long that lasted for everyone else here. Just to get a general idea of it. Also, did you remain swollen during the time that you were numb? Or did the swelling go away before then? I was just wondering how being numb would affect me when I'm going to school and work, and just pretty much doing anything. I know this is a stupid question but it's really driving me insane...I need to know more! Thank you in advance. Norma

Guest guest
Norma, There are no stupid questions here, this is major surgery, your life and your face we are talking about. The numbness varies and goes away gradually. After one month I had regained about 70% of feeling, the rest went away a little at a time. now at almost 5 months post-op I have a small amount of swelling on either side of my nose, in the upper cheek area. People who didn't know me before aren't aware of it. I have a small amount of numbness in my lower right chin area. it comes and goes. and there are still some parts inside of my mouth that are a little numb. the worst part is the constant pin and needles/burning feeling when sensation comes back but since it means feeling is coming back that makes it more bearable. This was my experience everyone is different. Marsha > > Hello, > > My ortho told me that after surgery my face will be numb for about > six months. Guest guest
You aren't kidding about the tingling. I have trouble sleeping at night because I constantly feel the burning and tingling in my cheeks. Is there anything you can do about it. I am 3 weeks and 3 days post op. I know it is a good sign, but it is driving me bananas. Please help! > > > > Hello, > > > > My ortho told me that after surgery my face will be numb for about > > six months. Go to sleep while the area is still warm, don't let it return to cold again. Ray

Guest guest
Shock and confuse your brain with an ice cube followed by heat, rub the cube over the area then follow it with heat. My ortho told me to try it and it helped. Carole Anne > > > > > > Hello, > > > > > > My ortho told me that after surgery my face will be numb for > about > > > six months.
