Guest guest
I could be wrong, but I think it's Bromelain, rather than Bromelian, and I think it's derived from either pineapple or something in the pineapple family, and available principally at health food stores. Another recommendation from that front is Arnica, which is available as a tea, or in tablets, or as an external cream. I didn't use any of these, because my surgeon asked me not to. Not that he was against them -- he just admitted that he knew nothing about them. I was fortunate that I had little swelling. I did use the Arnica cream after I really creamed one of my toes -- think I broke it, as it got really black and blue -- and it got rid of both the discoloration and the swelling, as well as the pain! Or maybe it was just time. I dunno. Cammie > > Hi Sadie, > > I had my lower jaw and chin done. Guest guest
Cammie, once again you are right. It is Bromelain. It is derived from the stem of the pineapple. It is considered a proteolytic enzyme and is a common digestive aid. A lot of studies were done on it in the seventies but has since fallen into disfavor cuz it's no longer the latest greatest and we know how they can pump 'em. I chose to use it due to the amount of ibuprofen and/or acetaminophen to control pain and swelling is not good for the liver and kidneys especially when combined with aspiren. I found it was recommended by facial plastic surgeons to reduce swelling and bruising after surgery. The only controversy is how much of it is eaten by the stomach acid before it gets to the small intestine. The bottle I got says it can fuction in the stomach acids however the studies were done with coated caps. I also found a source 'clear-ease' which makes a buccol lozenge to increase uptake by absorbing in the mouth and thereby targeting the head. A couple of links that I found helpful are: http://www.ent-consult.com/enzymes.html http://www.ent-consult.com/index.html ps- I just got back from the ENT today where he drained my ears of the fluid I had been carrying around since the first surgery in May. Oh to be able to hear again! I didn't realize how bad it was till I went into sensory overload and can now hear the bugs crawling!! till next time/eric > > > > Hi Sadie, > > > > I had my lower jaw and chin done. Guest guest
I was told to try it but never got around to the GNC...If everything goes well, I will be unwired on Nov 1st. Do you think it's too late to take Bromelain? > > > > Hi Sadie, > > > > I had my lower jaw and chin done. Guest guest
not if you still have swelling. At almost four weeks I still have a little spot about the size of a quarter just to the side of my nose on one side. I'll probably take it until week 8 when i get the bands off. It also helps keep my sinuses clear and since it's relatively cheap (12 bucks for 120 tabs) and harmless I'll keep taking it. eric > > > > > > Hi Sadie, > > > > > > I had my lower jaw and chin done.
