Guest guest
Hi , I had two gum grafts and used Perioguard both times. My periodontist was a little concerned that it might stain my ceramic braces, so he asked me to use it only once or twice a day, not the recommended four, and in a smaller amount. It ended up not staining my braces or teeth at all. The reduced amount didn't affect my healing either. Now the taste ... that's a different story. Good luck on your grafts! Guest guest
, It's ! I haven't talked to you for awhile I had my surgery and it wasn't as bad as I thought. I have been using periogard for that for three weeks twice a day and haven't noticed much staining. I plan on getting my teeth cleaned as soon as I get the ok from my os. The only thing I noticed on Periogard is after awile it did make a couple of my teeth hot cold sensative, but that goes away when you quite using it. Good luck with you graft and let me know how it goes. > > > > Hi all, > > > > I'm scheduled for a gum graft in about a week or so. Guest guest
Thanks for responding & Maddie. I have probably been way too concerned about this, but I always worry about the veneers on my top front teeth. They have been really durable, but I obviously don't want to mess with them. Anyway, you've set my mind at ease at little. After all the surgeries I've been through hopefully my teeth will make it through this simple graft in one piece. Hey : I'll let you know how the gum graft goes. I went to my periodontist and asked why she couldn't do a bone graft. She says I've lost too much bone near the teeth and they might have to be extracted within 10 years or so. So a bone graft is not an option. She hopes that the gum graft will help to prolong the life of the teeth. I went to another perio for a second opinion and he also said a bone graft couldn't be done. However he thought the teeth were still relatively healthy and might last a long time, maybe even the rest of my life. So there are two dramatically different opinions for ya! Sometimes it makes me wonder if the " experts " really know what they're talking about. Anyway, it just shows you might want to get a second opinion on your tooth before you do anything drastic. By the way: Congrats on making it through the surgery. It's a tough one. From your pics it looks like you are making a very quick recovery. - > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > > > I'm scheduled for a gum graft in about a week or so. Guest guest
, Thanks for the words of encourgement. I have tried to stay really postive the whole time and think that had helped a lot. Well, with your teeth I hope your second opinion is the one that happens for you. It's always best when you can keep your own teeth. I notice where i had my bone graft the tooth isn't as wiggley. I consider this a good sign and can'nt wait for the five months to get here and find out if the bone graft took. Good luck with the gum graft. I know you will do fine. > > > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > > > > > I'm scheduled for a gum graft in about a week or so.
