Guest guest
welcome to the club Blake! it can be a little deceiving at this point with all the swelling. Try this, take a piece of dental floss and line up the middle of your forehead between your eyes and run it down to the middle of your chin. provided your face is somewhat symetrical it should run down the middle of your nose and line up with the center of your upper and lower teeth. I learned this from an OS when I went for a second opinion. At day 4 of my resurgery of my maxilla I saw the same thing and checked with dental floss and everything lined up but my top teeth. the midline looked off by about 3mm. If I was female I think I would have started balling right then at the thought of going thru this a third time! didn't sleep well the next two nights till my 1 week post visit.(I fell asleep in his office waiting) asked the doc and he said " it's not that bad " , " it's only a millimeter or so " . He then changed my banding pattern to try and tilt the maxilla a little. He acted hopeful but my confidence in him is shot! Needless to say I'm pissed and looking at my alternatives. I've already paid 16 grand so far for this latest mess and the bills haven't even finished comming in yet. I wish you better luck than I my friend. eric > > Hi all - > > I just had the guts to lift my upper lip, and I can see that my two > front upper teeth are off to the right as compared to my nose!!! Guest guest
I did what you said -- it's definitly off. You just went to see your OS? Can this be fixed with rubber bands? (Gosh I hope so!!!) > > > > Hi all - > > > > I just had the guts to lift my upper lip, and I can see that my two > > front upper teeth are off to the right as compared to my nose!!! Guest guest
Blake, you asked " can this be fixed with rubber bands? " My guess is it depends on the circumstance. In my case since only my upper was done and I am not wearing braces I only have one band on either side connected to pushpin looking lugs. he removed the band on one side in hopes of tipping it a little. How this is supposed to correct a rotation problem I don't know. In your case if you have multiple banding locations they may be able to influence a rotaional movement. Let your doc know your concerns at your next meeting and let me know what he says. my next appt. is a week from monday so i'll know for sure by then if he's overly optimistic or just trying to stall past the statute of limitations. I'll keep you posted. eric > > > > > > Hi all - > > > > > > I just had the guts to lift my upper lip, and I can see that my > two > > > front upper teeth are off to the right as compared to my > nose!!!
