great job tom! another success story. I guess kaiser has come a long

way. never trusted them when i had them and would have been leary

letting them do something this drastic but sounds like they hit a home

run. how has your nose changed and was it positive? i've read it can

cause deviated septum. it actually helped mine cuz it was deviated to

the left slightly and now it's straight! it was also thin and now has

a nice little flair. pain meds can be a drag. good to hear you don't

need them. not to worry but the swelling should peak around day 3.

keep up the ice and elevated sleeping and you'll be fine. let us know

how you progress. eric

Hi Tom,

I'm just curious how long have you had kaiser insurance??? I do have

heathnet hmo right now and I don't think they will cover the surgery.

So I'm thinking of changing it to Kaiser next year but I'm not sure

if they will cover it right away?

Yay Tom!! Glad to hear things went wella dn that you a) don't have

any pain and B) don't have a splint! Isn't it great? I woke up fully

expecting to have one-and since I was groggy and kinda numb, I

remember feeling my front teeth wiht my finger to see if I could feel

a splint-it was one of the first things I asked my surgeon about when

he came to " release " me!

I did the same re the nose-the water/hydrogen mix was great!

I am 15 days post op today-met with my surgeon for a check in and he

is very pleased-I get to " de-band " during the day as of tomorrow-only

have to wear them at night for next week or so-then see hima gain in

2 weeks. I got new xrays done today and e looked at the before ones

in comparison-amazing! My profile is totally different-even nose

looks smaller!-and I have 4 plates and 27 screws in there holding

little humpty dumpty together! ;0)

I used ice constantly for a week, then moved on to warm compresses,

worked great to ease the silght jaw ache and muscle ache from usage!

Hope your recovery continues to go well...let me know if you have any

questions...take care!

Thanks Connie. As I have said in a couple of other posts today the

worst is the congestion right now. Ugh! I hope it goes away soon.

How long? Waking up splint free was a bonus. I get my post op x-

rays on Tuesday and then go back to get unwired on Thursday. Looking

forward to that let me tell you!
