Hi there--just thought I'd make a quick post to this question--I had

HealthNet and switched to Kaiser when I married my husband. I had

Kaiser for maybe 2 or 3 months before I went to see the good Doctors

in Oakland about orthognathic surgery. I had no problem getting it

covered--and no one mentioned any kind of wait period or anything.

Just to warn you, I didn't yet have braces--which meant that I would

be waiting for surgery at least a year. When I went back (in June--

I was ready then) they told me that the wait list had grown from 3

months to more than 8 months (it seems that they've gone from having

3 surgeons on staff to only 2, unless things have changed recently)--

warn your ortho if you're going to Oakland to get your name on the

list asap.

Anyway, I don't think time is really the factor with them when

deciding to approve or not--I'd go with Tom's oppinion--it's great

if your ortho has worked with them before and knows how to ask and

for what reasons.
