Guest guest
Hi Maureen My surgeon asked me to do the exact same diet. I hsad the same trouble as you - my tummy was still big and I was starving. Unfortunately I failed miserable on that diet. I would do it one day, but totally blow it the next day. I gave up in the end - then did nothing but clear liquids the day before my surgery. I am not telling you to do that of course LOL. Just know that I sympathize with you. ~ami~ LAP RNY 5-13-03 261/184.5/130 In a message dated 1/17/2004 12:44:15 PM Central Standard Time, rninflorida@... writes: Hi all. I'm looking for some advice, support and words of wisdom. My surgeon wants all his preops to go on a 2 week liquid protein diet immediately preop...shake at breakfast, shake for lunch, and shake for dinner along with broth, water and sugar free jello. No coffee, sodas or caffienated teas (crystal light is ok). Here's my issue...My stomach is still the size of a football. I AM HUNGRY!!!! I have no problem knowing that post op this will be my life for awhile but I don't know if I can do this now. I only had 400 calories yesterday (used Unjury with milk). How did any of you who had to adhere to this diet survive pre op??? Thanks, Maureen

Guest guest
Hi Maureen, I myself am currely 8 1/2 weeks post. My surgeon also required the liquid diet but for 19 HOME days after surgery. I was not hungry at all during this time. Had to FORCE myself to take in what I did. Once I did start to " feel " hungry I actually realized that most of it was HEAD hunger! Even though I am not supposed to and i know it has the opposite affect for most people I chew sugar free bubble gum to stop my head hunger. I have in the last 3 to 3 1/2 weeks had a LOT of trouble getting in my protein so I have been on a pretty big plateau but I am currently down 62 pounds! I have had a REALLY hard time with protein shakes and drinks. They all make me sick except for Eas Precision protein fruit punch and now I have found Myoplex. My husband came home today with designer whey protein i think is the name of it and i am trying it now and its pretty good...So today is the second day in a row i have gotten in all 80 grams of protein...WOOHOO Good Luck! Guest guest
I didn't Maureen. But every doc has different requirements. Mine only said he wanted me to try and lose weight before surgery. I asked how much. He said " ANY " . In the end I gained weight before surgery and thought they would cancel but they didn't. Thank Goodness!!!! Candi pre op protein shakes Hi all.
