Keeping one's own teeth

" It's always best when you can keep your own teeth. "

Do I ever agree with that one! That's exactly what this whole process

did for me.

I was amazed recently when a doctor friend who's been having TMJ

trouble told me that three teeth had shifted, causing the

malocclusion and pain. The plan this friend has chosen is to have the

teeth removed, and implants installed!

I begged that my friend at least talk with my orthodontist. I

reported that the braces, nor even the surgery, are as difficult as

one imagines. I offered to accompany my friend. I explained that yes,

there can be pain, but it's not really bad, and is much better than

the constant ache of a jaw.

I don't think I made a dent. <:~<. And this is a sane, sensible,

incredibly able physician.

Sigh.
