Hey everyone,

I had surgery Dec. 1st and everything went good. Before the surgery

I was told by my surgeon that people with my kind of jaw surgery

(lower jaw moved forward) only took about 2 weeks of being wired and

then the wires came out. Well that made me very set on 2 weeks.

Only now that I went to the surgeon 6 days post-op and he says my

muscles are tight and to come back in 10-14 days and he will 'start'

to look at maybe taking out the wires. When I left the office I was

crushed. I know that he knows what he is doing and if my muscles

aren't ready to take my improved jaw then the wires are not coming

out. I was wondering if anyone came up the a way to help your

muscles relax. I have been talking and moving my face muscles a lot,

but I can still feel that they are tight. I have to go back to work

the day I go back to the surgeon and I so had hoped that the wires

would be out. To make things worse, it's food day the next day at

my work!

Also some advice for people who are worried about getting sick while

being wired-- On the way home from the hospital I felt very sick.

My body got very hot and I was going to throw up, but I rolled down

the window and I cooled down and ended up not getting sick. It

happened to me again the next night and I sat infront of my fan and

cooled off and ended up falling asleep. Just I tip that worked for

me.

Another great thing to do when you think you're gonna barf is to put an

ice pack on the back of your neck.
