Dear Fellow Graduates:

It has been ages since I have posted to this group. I had an Open RNY in

October of 2000 by Dr. Baker in Fridley, MN. I live in southern Minnesota. I

have lost 120 pounds going from 280 to 160. My goal was 150 but I haven't

weighed that much (or that little) since I was 15, so at 47 years old I

probably oughtta be happy at 160, eh?

I just wanted to respond quickly to the " Fasting Thing " being bantered

about.

Don't you think the most important aspect of " Fasting " would be ... the WHY

of it? Fasting can be quite healthy in many aspects. As an author who writes

primarily in the inspirational market, the term " Fasting " is mentioned

literally dozens of times in the Bible. It is usually done to get

" centered, " to get a clearer vision of the Big Picture of life.

Don't you think perhaps many of us who were MO for so many years need some

balance? Some centering? :-) Some focus on something other than our weight?

If we are fasting to get a handle on our weight, or to shrink our stomach,

or to control poor eating habits -- then that reason could be detrimental to

our health. However, if we are fasting as a way to get in better touch with

the spiritual side of our being - well then, I say, " more power to you. "

Okay, have my two cents worth sent anyone over the edge?

Blessings to all,
