Bring your loved one with autism to get an official Bergen County Gold Star ID Card issued by Sheriff McGuire. This card can be presented as proof of a disability when necessary to law enforcement, at theme parks etc. Anyone with autism or similar diagnosis is eligible. The person with autism must be present to receive a Gold Star ID Card and must be a resident of Bergen County. When: Friday, October 5 Time: 7pm Where: Cosac's Bergen County Support Group, Mt. Carmel Church, Ridgewood, NJ. Side door across from the rectory on Passaic Street. Meyer, Executive Director of Cosac will be attending. She has written an ABA program to help caregivers teach their loved ones to present the card to law enforcement. You must complete the application in advance and bring it with you. Write to BergenGoldStar@... to request one. The students of the Epic School will be doing the mailing near the end of September. If you do not receive the application by September 28 call 201-92... or write again. DO NOT CALL THE EPIC SCHOOL. Feel free to pass this notice on to your loved one's classmates and friends. Everyone is encouraged to obtain their own applications because of the short time between the mailing and the event, and so we have an idea of how many people to expect. Thanks! There will be a Support Group meeting next Thursday, January 10th, 7:00pm at the School, 347 N. Fairview Ave., Paramus. Meyer will be filling in for Moreno as the facilitator for the January meeting.
