Beginning of quote:

" I think what you guys are talking about is the hormone grehlin which is one

that helps control hunger/appetite. When people diet, they've found that

grehlin levels go up (which makes you hungrier). But for reasons that they

can't explain yet, when a person has wls, their grehlin levels decrease

dramatically (typically). " (end quote)

This is the first I've heard of this. When I had my WLS, the reason I didn't

want to eat was because I got tired of throwing everything up that didn't suit

my new pouch, got tired of eating the same things over and over, and nothing

tasted right. Eventually things tasted good again, I ate things I couldn't

before, and my hunger was mainly in my head, not my stomach. But hey, if they've

got an anti-grehlin surgery, I want it!

and a disclaimer -- this person (who thinks the hormone for hunger is gone) is 8

months out...

In the original post it said she was 2 years out. Now, at 8 months out not

feeling hunger is pretty typical...but at two years out??

I'm sure this all varies with the person. Like the ones who struggle with

losing too much weight....I can't relate to that either, but I know it

happens....

I think most of my hunger, at almost 4 years out, is still in my head. I

don't have to be physically hungry, ready to pass out, before I want to eat.

I simply (still) love food and love to eat. I keep a handle on it pretty

well most days, but there are times when it beats me up. Like Chapin

Carpenter says, " some days you're the windshield, some days you're the

bug... "
