Guest guest
Ginger: Sounds like you feel the way I do when Fred falls. They really can be stubborn, but I think that Fred will now use his electric w/c all the time. He told me that his sick of falling and hurting himself. Believe me , I am to. I think we all miss the pictures and the colors that we use to use here. Black ink is ok, but I love color. ) Takecare Vera ********** Vera, Sorry to hear about Fred's fall. I remember when Pete was stubborn about the wheelchair (which he is now using all the time). The falls are really scary. I know when Pete would fall, I would feel so guilty, as if I had not done something that I should have. I was almost really relived when he wasn't using the walker any more. He can still stand if I hold him or transfer him. He can still using the walker, for exercise, but only with a gait belt. Of course, I shouldn't have felt guilty because I couldn't and didn't want to control his desire to continue to be all that he could for as long as he could. Hang in there. PS I miss your rose

Guest guest
Dear and Vera: When Bob falls and gets into an odd position where I can't get him up even with the Hoyer Lift and I know he is not injured, sometimes I have hold of him when he falls, you know I've grabbed him when he tries to get out of the wheelchair and he falls gently, I just call the Dispatcher at the Fire Department and they send an engine with a few strong men and get him up. If I feel it is an Emergency I call 911. Sometimes he just falls in odd positions - like kitty corner in the hall. This sickness has called on resources I never knew existed in myself or in my Town. Guest guest
Hi Pat: Your right to try to grab them before they fall , so they don't hit so hard. Most of the time I do it, but sometimes these guys are just fast. My son in law tells us Fred is a bull in a china shop. Guest guest
Vera, I'm sorry Fred is falling so often. One thing I learned after I had put Warren in nursing home was that I could have called 911 and asked them to send fireman, not a real emergency but that I couldn't get my husband, whoever, up after a fall and they would come and help. Just a thought as if Fred is like my Warren even in wheel chair still trys to stand and falls, even in the NH. Can't remember that he can't do it. Hope Fred's face heals quickly. I will have to look up Hemifacial spasm as I haven't seen it yet on Warren but as fast as he's going might any time, so I'll recognize whats happening. S.
