For those not in the 'know' we were talking tonight about difference in Uk and American words and the lovely subject of toilets came up. I wanted to know why you call it a , Pam wanted to know why we call it a loo. so we challened each other to find out. I have been 'on line' and discovered that LOO is derived from the French phrase GRDEZ l'EAU which means mind the water which was a warning to passersby that the contents of the receptical were to be tipped out of the upstairs window, so beware below.................ummmmmmm nice. so l'eau became LOO Also Dennis, apparently a Crapper (?) was accepted as the inventor of the loo, ( I, where do you get them from) but apparently it was an employee of his called Albert Giblin.............
