My name is Suzy . I had surgery 1 yr ago today in Plano, TX.

My surgeon was Veninga. I weighed 286 lbs and today I weigh

176 lbs. I was supposed to have surgery on 8/16/01, but in July I

ended up in the hospital with a blood clot behind my left knee.

They put me on Coumadin and my surgery was cancelled. In Jan '02,

my pcp sent me to see a Vascular Surgeon. We decided to insert a

Green Filter to catch any blood clots that break loose and travel to

the heart, lungs, or brain. So on 3/7/02 we did surgery. The Green

Filter was inserted first and then my RNY was done. I didn't have

any complications for the RNY, but 2 wks after my surgery I ended up

in the hospital with more blood clots in my right leg. They put me

back on the Coumadin. I went to see a Hematologist and he did a

bunch of blood test on me. Come to find out I have a blood clotting

disorder. My brother and sister were both tested, and they have it

too. So it had nothing to do with having the RNY. So I'll be on

Coumadin the rest of my life. I would still do this surgery over in

a heartbeat. My weight loss has slowed down. So I've been watching

my Carbs and eating mostly Proteins and veggies. I drink at least 2

protein shakes a day. I'm really going to have to work really hard

at getting these last 30 some lbs off. I was wearing a size 26 jean

and size 3X shirt and now I'm wearing a size 14 jean and I'm wearing

some medium and large shirt. I don't ever remember wearing a size

14 jean. I think I woke up one morning and I was wearing size 18 or

20. I've been overweight all of my life. I remember in 1st grade

dieting. Sorry this is so long.
