Guest guest
I am excited we are surgery buddies too. It's so nice to share the experience with someone. Well, my doctors' are Dr. Steve and Boyd Tomasetti. I am having my hooks put on the 6th and my last set of pre-op molds done on the 7th. I just found out today I need a bone graft to save my lower right canine. Some weird infection over the weekend ate away all the bone on one side of my tooth. So next tue I will be having that done. I hope there are no complications and I hope it works. I don't want to lose my tooth. I am only 30! At least I found out that it is not postponing my surgery. Thank goodness. The only worry my othrodontist has is if they will be able to put a lower wire on my teeth. I will find out soon hopefully. Good luck and I will talk to you soon!! > Hi ... Guest guest
I'm glad that they caught what was wrong with your tooth before it got worse. Bless your heart ... still would be better if you didn't have to worry about that as well as the surgery. It sounds like you are in really great hands and that both the graft and the surgery will go off without a hitch. Plus know that I will be sending good thoughts and prayers your way. We are very close in age as well ... I turned 31 in July. My last visit to my ortho is when they did all the final molds and pictures. I have no rubberbands on my braces anymore ... they did wire ties around each bracket to ensure no more movement until my surgery. Just have to go back for the lovely surgical posts ... they pushed the appointment as far back as they could so that I would have as little of discomfort as possible. Can't be worse than get a new wire so I'm not to nervous about that part. Are you going into the hospital before surgery to do all the preop stuff ... blood drawn, paper work, ect. They are having me do it the morning of the surgery. Hopefully keeping me busy will help to quash some of my nervousness. Have you ever had any other type of surgery before? I had my appendix out when I was 16 and had my wisdom teeth out with IV sedation April of last year. So the going under part doesn't seem to be stressing me ... I just want to be on the other side already lol. Take care and try to think happy thoughts ...

Guest guest
I am not sure if they will be drawing blood the morning of my surgery. I did have to go see my regular docter for a pre-op physical. I just found out from them my potassium was dangerously low from taking water pills for my high blood pressure. So, I had to get a perscribtion for potassium today. He said no surgery until my levels come back up. I will go get my blod tested next fri and I hope all is good. I have had surgery three other times. For umbilical hernia, breast biopsy and wisdom teeth. So I am not too woried about going under. Just trying to make it to surgery with no infections or other problems. I am already taking penecillian 4 times a day for the infection that caused my bone loss. So it should be a breeze talking after surgery. I get my surgical wire put on next wed. My orthodontist had to special order it and it wasnt in last time I was there. Well talk to you soon. > I'm glad that they caught what was wrong with your tooth before it > got worse. Guest guest
I dunno about where you are, but if you're female, they'll probably be drawing blood. One of the things the hospital insists on is a pregnancy test, to be sure you aren't. (I was 56, post-menopausal, so it was pretty silly, I thought -- I told my surgeon, " If they come up with a positive, we're gonna be watching for a star in the East. " He replied, " Well, lemme know if you see three guys arriving, bearing presents. " ) Of course, it was not positive.
