Guest guest
Ray, Did you have trouble biting your jaws or inside lip after surgery? I will be 8 weeks post op tomorrow and I am a little worried that when the feeling comes back 100% that the biting will be a bit excruitating. Everyone knows how bad it hurts to bite your jaw. I try to be positive when I post stuff, but it is hard sometimes. My upper jaw was brought down to level my upper teeth, but that left me with what seems like not enough lip to chew with my mouth closed and biting the lip when I try. I used to have a full upper lip and now its gone (thin and very small) I guess it's off ot see the plastic surgeon next. PS. I'm female and, I guess, a little vain. My surgeon did a beautiful join with my surgery and obtained every objective. It is a small problem from such a big surgery, but it bothers me. Pam > > Ok, that's it everyone. Guest guest
I used to bite my tongue 2 or 3 times per meal. At first, I didn't care much about it because I had no feeling. But then the thin line I spoke about, it's about just where I bite my tongue.. So yes, it hurts. But it's a good thing, it helps the tongue to move as your body becomes aware of where it is (at least, that's what happened to me). My upper jaw was also moved down, but my upper lip didn't suffer any side effect. My closure is still as it was before, that is I eat with my mouth closed, and I have no problem maintaining my mouth closed. As stffyness is going away, you'll get increased flexibility, and I believe this will help you. It didn't occure for me untill week 12, if I recall correctly. And even now, I'm still improving from one week to another.
