Hello everyone!

I am finally reporting back after coming home from the hospital last week. I

spent 17

days there and I am still recuperating! I guess that's not too much to expect

from an

open RNY on a guy my size. Anyway, Dr. Millikan (Rush-Presbyterian-St.

Luke's

in Chicago, which I think is now called Rush University Medical Hospital) did a

thoroughly excellent job in all respects, putting together a new stomach that is

responding beautifully and an incision that has been healing up the same. He's

also a

man who takes a lot of time with his patients, obviously cares a lot even though

he is

very busy, and is good-natured to boot. I'll suggest seeing him anytime.

Anyway, I had a lot of things to say that wouldn't fit here, so I put them all

on this

webpage: http://home.comcast.net/~deppitybob/wls_experience.html. Read it if you

like, and if you have any comments, put them here and I'll be happy to read

them!

Thanks for all the great info and advice I have gotten from this group!

Congrats on being post op. Sounds like you've had quite a journey.

I'm really interested in reading your web page, but I'm getting a

message that the URL does not exist or is outdated. Just wanted you

to know.

I read your webpage. Very funny, esp. with the food trays. i

would've reported the problem to the MD or supervising nurse, and

told them I had no intention of paying for the food - part of the

bill. The nursing supervisors at my hospital go way out of their way

to correct a problem, so I would assume all hospitals do that?

Your URL had a period at the end, and that is why it came up as an

expired page. I erased it for this message in case anyone would like

to try again.

I grilled the nurses at my work in regards to Lovenox vs. Heparin.

It isn't nearly as necessary with a Laparoscopic procedure unless the

person is predisposed with a clotting problem. Lovenox can be taken

by the patient in self-administered injections, but they never send a

patient home to inject themselves with Heparin; too dangerous, works

slower, and blood levels have to be monitored frequently. Neither

drug can be given orally - both are injected. There are other anti-

coagulates that can be taken orally, but I know nothing about them,

or their indications for use. Janet
