Any post-opers here who could share their experiences? I was unwired

5 days ago and they discovered I had an infection in one of the

incisions where the stitches came out too early. After being

unwired, and now wearing rubber bands 24/7, my pain seems to be

increasing(especially at night). I have slept horrible the past 2

nights. Is that common for the pain to worsen after being unwired?

Maybe it's the nerves coming back? I am due to go back to work in 1

1/2 weeks and I think I'm going to have to extend my time off due to

the setbacks the infection has caused in my heeling and the

increased pain I'm experiencing. Just curious of others experiences

after being unwired.

Thanks,

JM

I'm not sure of the type of pain you are having, but I know my lower

lip and chin have been very painful (sharp stabbing pain and

tingling). My surgeon said this is normal for healing nerves. I've

had 3 surgeries and that is really the only pain I've had, but I'm

not unwired yet either! I hope this helps!

I have seen this posted more than a few times in the past. Still, I

hope you have been in touch with your surgeon's office about it, just

in case.

It may be that the muscles are trying to go back to their earlier

positions; it may be that the nerves are trying to regain their

function -- or it could be something else. Your surgeon is the best

one to tell you what he thinks is going on.
