-HI

I ALSO had upper, lower and palate expansion to correct a class III

underbite. I did have power chains at one point, but was to close a

gap and i seem to remember it moving pretty quickly.

In the palatal expansion, from my case, my palate was spilt into 3

sections. if you can imagine breaking it behind the front teeth and

one break to each side, so when parting the front section takes the

front teeth and left takes left and right takes right, if that makes

any sense, lol. i think i had a plate in there to hold it all

together. im not sure whether new tissue grows in order to expand

it or whether the plates do that job, though in my case the plates

and screws were dissolvable. Your surgeon will be able to explain

it better.

All in all im very pleased with the outcome and 2 years down the

line i have not regrets. the recovery at first was a little ruff in

the first 2 weeks then it got alot easier!!!

Is you surgery for an under bite or over bite?

kind regards

Thanks for replying. I have bad overbite/overjet problem. The roots

of my teeth are flared now I just think I need the space inbetween

my top teeth to happen which is coming along. So supposed to have

the upper jaw moved up, 2 teeth cut out, palate expansion, bone

graft to build up the upper and my lower brought forward. :(
