Guest guest
Sooo sorry you have had trouble with the pain. I have just spent the better part of this week in the hospital with a beloved one who also had trouble getting help for major pain, post op (but not dental post op, nor jaw stuff) and that can be sooooo draining. Hope you're feeling better now. Please do ice and/or heat, as your surgeon suggests. That can be major help. And wow! If you're thinking to return to work in a week, that's quick! Congratulations. Guest guest
Oh yes, the ice and ibuprofen are helping a ton with the pain now. I also have a prescription for vicodin if the ibuprofen doesn't cut it, but I think it's ok now. Now that the pain is under control I feel like I can take on the world again. At least, a little at a time. All my job requires is for me to sit in front of a computer all day, no need to talk on the phone, that's what IM is for and they all understand that talking is going to be rough on me for a bit, so it shouldn't be much of a problem going back next week. -Jen > > Hey guys! Guest guest
I'm glad to hear everything is going well for you now! I don't know if I would be able to go back to next Wed, but fornutately, I don't have to. I'm off till after Labor Day. Right now, I'm very swollen. I'm doing ice fifteen minutes on fifteen minutes off and hoping that my worst is on day 1 or 2, not 3 or 4, because that would be ridiculously huge! I'm not quite sure where I am numb. My lower lip is difinately, but I don't think that my lower teeth are, if that makes sense. I can open about a finger's width, possibly more, I just haven't felt comfotable trying for anything more than to get some pudding in there! My tubes were all out before I woke up, and the ginger ale helped with the soreness. I don't think I had a catheter, if I did, I'm unaware of it. My biggest problem at the moment is my lips. Very sore and swollen. I'm also a little unsure how to clean. I can brush, and may have to, because I'm not having luck with rinsing. I can't tell what I am getting, and what I'm not! Oh yeah, I may have some lovely bruising on my left check too! Kim > > > Hey guys! Just checking in with my status. The sugery was a huge > > > success. Guest guest
All that you say is true, and yes, relieving the pain will help. But remember that surgery, and healing, take energy, too. I have just been reminded of that by experiences (not jaw surgery) a loved one underwent. You will need time for your body to put itself back together, trust me. Guest guest
I'm scheduled to be off until after Labor day too, but that uses up all of my vacation/sick leave until the end of the year. So, the less I actually use, the better. I do also have the option of working from home, so I may cash in on that too. I'd really like to be able to fly home for the holidays and show off my new mouth to my family and friends back home. I'm mostly numb from the left corner of my mouth to the bottom of my chin, just a little stripe really. I have bruise on the left side of my face from hitting myself in the face with the phone, oops! Everyone and their brother tried calling me even though I told them I wouldn't be talking well at all.. I'm doing ok with a child size toothbrush. it's just slow going really, and I'm being really careful around my stitches. I'm not allowed to try to brush the inside of my mouth until at least Friday. Ick. I'm not all that comfortable with opening my mouth too much anyways. I always have a hard time finding where to put my mouth back together at. None of my back teeth connect, so it's really interesting so far. -Jen > > > > Hey guys! Just checking in with my status. The sugery was a > huge > > > > success. Guest guest
Yes, I am very tired even though I am feeling good. I won't push myself too hard, I'll be either working short shifts, or working from home if I still think I'm up for working next week. The last thing I want to do is hinder my healing because I'm pushing myself too hard! -Jen > > Oh yes, the ice and ibuprofen are helping a ton with the pain now. > I > > also have a prescription for vicodin if the ibuprofen doesn't cut > it, > > but I think it's ok now. > > > > Now that the pain is under control I feel like I can take on the > world > > again.
