Guest guest
ok...I have been walking most of my 7 weeks post but I am bored with it so for the last 4 or 5 days I have been riding the exercise bike. I was walking 2-3 miles a day and I am now riding the bike 4-5 miles a day. I want to soon be doing both but I am not able to do that yet. My question is until then which is better to do..Just walking or the bike? I was thinking the bike would work some of my problem areas better..Like my wings (flabby underarm), lower stomach, legs and butt... so this is for all you post op experts...PLEASE help... Thanks Crystal 11/18/03 365/307/165-175 http://CrystalsWLSJourney.homestead.com/index.html

Guest guest
Crystal, I don't know the answer to this, but assume both are good. I just prefer the bike because my ankle doesn't like to walk. Also my arms get tired on the bike, which hopefully will help the " wings " . Guest guest
You stated you've not had a chest xray for a couple of years. I'd definitely ask for one. A Gallium Scan would be a good idea also. Gallium is a radioactive dye the inject intravenously, and then they do a ct scan-- (one prior to injection, and one after)--- the granulomas or scar tissue show up with more enhancement with the Gallium-- so at least they know you have involvement in your lungs or upper bronchials. If you drink plenty of water before and after- the gallium doesn't hurt the kidneys. (It's low enough dose that it isn't dangerous-- but the extra fluids don't hurt either). Then if the pulmonologist decides he can do a bronchoscopy, he can easily get to the areas that are highlighted in the scan. Makes it all so very simple. Guest guest
Tracie, The chest CT was with gallium but I haven't had one in a year or so since the other nodes disappeared. I was wondering if I need another one to see if they have reoccured especially since I have had to go back on inhalers. I have a cough that is non productive most of the time and no real wheezing. The other thing I think I am going to ask for is MRI's of the T and L spine. I haven't had those in awhile and with a neurogenic bladder with no cause (MRI of brain in negative) I think I might ask for that too. I have been off Imuran/steroids for awhile now so I thought this might be a good time to ask for more testing. Do you have any additional ideas? Also, I know if the archives there is a test called a TN-b. What is that for? What would it show? I see my PCP in about 6 weeks for more blood work and I would like to add that if it is something that might help. Thanks for all of your help! Terri G.
