Guest guest
Deb: I've seen the great plains lab booth at a couple of conferences. At the autsim society conference they put a " health professional " ribbon on my name tag and I felt like a target for a couple of groups--they were one. I wound up being put off because they would *not* let me leave without taking advertising....I was more interested in stuff for Andy.....including a tape, which I never listened to. But I am always skeptical of people who tell me that Mayo Clinic cannot replicate their lab studies. It *has* to be replicatable somewhere..... Anyway. If I were in your shoes, I'd be completely overwhelmed. And as I look at it, here is what I would recommend....more out of a need for some sort of " plan " and sanity. I'd implement a gluten-free diet first. Take 3 months or so and see how 's symptoms related to celiac disease are doing. (A biopsy is a pretty firm diagnosis!). You may see some very nice results. If you see enough positive change, I'd sit on the rest of it and focus on learning and enjoying each other. If you don't see positive changes, then take another look at the great plains lab work and see if there's a way to corroborate the evidence that is not costly. And all the while, keep a good list of what foods is liking and disliking. It may change! Good luck. You have all my sympathy!! j At 07:56 PM 10/13/01 -0000, you wrote: >Hi guys, > >Still struggling along. is still very sick, keeping a fever. >CT scan on Monday, Gyn Oncologist in NYC on Thurs. Guest guest
oops! It's brian who's got celiac! ACKACKACK. Sorry! I would still go with the gluten free diet first. Then maybe add the cassein restriction if he is still having gas and stuff. What are his current symptoms? Keep track of his current symptoms so you can be objective looking for changes. Typically, those who believe in the leaky gut theory go for the gluten and cassein free diet anyway......rarely do you hear the other. Doesn't mean it may not be necessary, but maybe if you just begin with the one more " standard " diet you can go forward from there? j
Guest guest
Well, I've heard of leaky gut.....and they have fish for breakfast in Bermuda! I've had leaky gut explained as the gut lining is too porous and the protein of the gluten and casein can go through it into the blood stream. As to what to have for Breakfast, I have no idea.......I feel for you. Guest guest
No help here -- we see a DAN doctor, and he ordered the labs for us. I think it's important to have a doctor guide you in what labs to get and how to interpret the results. We received a copy of the results, and they are more detailed than any lab results we have previously seen. in NJ > > Has anyone on here used these tests and if so how did you geta dr to approve them? thanks > > > GracieAnn Mama to : > * born 6 weeks early 2/3/99 Healthy > * born 3 weeks early 9/13/01 Turned blue after birth, was placed in issolett for 5 days , > developed jaundice at 6 hours of life, was Hospitilized at 16 months old with a milk protein allergy/ > reaction, at age 3 stopped breathing had what Dr's thought were seizures, had an MRI which > revealed an Arnold chiari malformation of 26mm, No csf flow, Brainstem compression, He > underwent brain surgery just days after his 4th b-day, They removed part of his skull and parts of > C1 and C2, Has asthma, Severe GERD, FTT, Severe DD, Low O2 sats, Ng tube, Multiple food allergies > Low resting heartrate, Mitochondrial disorder undiagnosed, www.caringbridge.org/visit/aaronczup > *Haley born 2 weeks early 3/25/03 healthy > * my angel born on 8/27/04 with HLHS earned his wings 8/28/04 > >
