Guest guest
So sorry about all that! What in the world happened in those " extraordinary circumstances, " if you don't mind sharing? I think those muscles get pretty stiff, and maybe atrophy a bit, when they're immobilized that long. Which means you may have to work extra hard on the opening again -- but don't take my word for that one! It's important to ask your surgeon what HE or SHE wants you to do! Guest guest
Although it's difficult, I don't mind sharing at all Cammie. About 12 hours after my first surgery, my mom, who was taking care of me, had an anyerism. So I was talking right away and rushing around to and from the hospital for a week. My mom had a sucessful surgery, but had a second anyerism a week later, so she was flown to Seattle, WA. and my Dad and I flew there later that day. For the next week she continued to decline and in the end passed away. My dad was so distraught during my mom's stay at the hospital, he couln't make heads or tails of anything, so again I was talking and running all over. When I got back to my home, I saw my surgeon and 2 screws had come out. I had the second surgery the next day and flew to my parents home 3 days later. That week at the funeral I felt the same pain as before and knew another screw came out (I hadn't been talking at all since the surgery). The following week I went to my surgeon again and screws had come out and I had bent the titanium plate. So the next morning I had the third surgery where they put 2 plates in and I was able to still take 3 weeks of of work and just rest and heal. So far this one's good. We joke at the surgeon's office that 'the third one's a charm'. I see my surgeon in a couple of weeks, so I'll be sure to ask him what will happen. Thanks Cammie! > > Hey everybody, > > I had my first lower jaw surgery on July 12th, but due to > > extrodinary circumstances, I had 2 more additional surgeries within > > the next month. Guest guest
What can anybody say to help? I am so sorry. That is just the most awful combination of circumstances that I've ever heard of, and I am amazed that you are still walking at this point. You must be very, very strong to go through all that and still be functioning reasonably. I've never heard of so many screws and plates coming out and otherwise giving trouble, but then I suppose your body was reacting to all sorts of stress, in addition to all the talking and other factors involved in these events. And with good humor, too. Honey, I think you've got it made in the shade, after you get unwired. Having been through all that, you're bound to have the worst of it behind you. And heaven knows, you're entitled. I hope! cammie > Although it's difficult, I don't mind sharing at all Cammie.
