In my pre-surgery class they told us that the titanium plates, which

are about the size of a very small paper clip, should not set off

metal detectors.

I asked one of the security guards at the airport to

wand my face to see what happened...nothing, no beeps

even though I have a mouth full of braces and titanium

plates from upper and lower jaw surgery.
