Chemical peels and other medi-spa treatments generate tons of cash flow for

physicians being squeezed by the managed care machine.

Peels never penetrate the dermis.

As for Retin-A and Renova et al.......

When you go to get a prescription filled there is an electronic record of NDC

(Nat'l Drug Code) and DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) information recorded and

all sorts of people care about this information. Plainly, down the supply

chain a score is kept for which drugs doctors are prescribing. Each doc has

a DEA number that allows them to prescribe medicine and each drug exactly one

NDC number that describes it. The score really means alot :>( Unfortunately

this puts new product releases on the stock option and patent life timetable

rather than the quickest cure. That is THE reason I got out of the

pharmaceutical & med/surg sales business.

People feel better when they have hope and when you get a new prescription

you have hope that things are going to get better or be different.

Prescription drugs can be wonderful things I'm just saying there are some

things that might influence the script(s) you receive you might not have

considered.

I don't recommend AHA's or peels ( I use a 40% glycolic peel in my room) for

rosacea. Anecdotally some women obnoxiously insist on doing a series of

peels because their friends all do it despite my warnings. Irrational

behavior and non-compliance are two of the nuisances I now face in my current

work as an esthetician.
