Guest guest
Hi, I'm getting braces on Oct. 6 -- just wondering what supplies I should be stocking up on. Dental wax? A special toothbrush? What else? Anyone recommend any particular brands over others? (If that's OK to discuss here.) Also, has anyone ever used Gly-Oxide mouth rinse? A friend just recommended it to me, says it improves oral hygiene and speeds up healing. Thanks, Luna

Guest guest
Best thing I ever got was Brace Relief (do a google search on Infalab - they sell it). It's silicon, easier to apply, stays on better than wax (even stays on when you're eating, it's so comfy I even started to brush my teeth with it still on!) I bought a Conair brand Waterpik, also a Sonicare toothbrush. The latter is what my dentist recommends to all his patients. Finally, Glide Floss Threaders (threader and floss all in one). I really hate those floss loops! I hated the Gly-Oxide (it foams in your mouth), but a friend really likes it. > Hi, > > I'm getting braces on Oct. 6 -- just wondering what supplies I should > be stocking up on. Dental wax? Guest guest
Get that waterpik! I didn't know about that thing untill my surgery. It would have been great to have the whole time I had braces on. If you are having surgery you will need it anyway, so it's definatly worth it. Nothing gets all that food out of you're braces better. I mix mouthwash and water together and go to town. on a side note- its not pretty to use that thing at first- things get a little wet untill you get it down. > Hi, > > I'm getting braces on Oct. 6 -- just wondering what supplies I should > be stocking up on. Guest guest
Thanks for the suggestions! I really appreciate it, as I am feeling a bit clueless and slightly overwhelmed. I have loaded up my Drugstore.com cart with nearly $50 worth of dental-related stuff and I don't know if I'm being pragmatic or excessive! So, is the Waterpik a good thing to have in addition to Sonicare? Because I have been planning to get a Sonicare. BTW, I found Infalab Brace Relief on this site: http://hardtofindbrands.com/. I plan to order some before my braces go on. > > Hi, > > > > I'm getting braces on Oct. 6 -- just wondering what supplies I should > > be stocking up on. Dental wax? A special toothbrush? What else?
