Jill,

it's about time things are working for you and your getting the help you

need. I hope you remember the person name you talked to at social services.

It seems that they were able to get things done for you fast and what you

needed. If at any other time you need something I'd go to that same person.

After about one year of feeling the medical people here do not care, I

made a telephone call to our local social services to ask for help

regarding the building of a downstairs shower and toilet extension.

Suddenly everyone want to help us. We had a visit from the occupation

help, who have now installed (free of charge) a bed

frame which will not only prevent falling out of bed, but he can also

use it to pull himself into a sitting position and help him to get in and

out of the bed by himself, they also supplied a swivel bath seat so he can

bathe himself, but unfortunately that would not fit so other methods are

being considered.

Today an physio therapist came and has given exercises to do, showed

us how to get up after a fall and is coming next week and bringing a

(free) wheeled walking frame and teaching him how to use it.

They are taking advice from our specialist regarding the extension and will

send around their architect and planner to discuss the building work and

best of all.............they will pay some or all of the cost which will be

thousands of pounds.

Finally they are waking up to the fact we need help.........AT LAST
